- Old Land Mark Gone. Died on Dec. 26, 1910, David Chanler, aged 92 years, 7 months and 16 days. The deceased was born on May 10th, 1818, on the farm known later as the Keasing Monzingo place, about 12 miles from Minden, then Claiborne parish where he resided for nearly forty-five years. He united with the Methodist church when young and still remained such. He was married in 1853 to Mrs. Adaline Florice Chandler and to this union six children, 4 boys and 2 girls were born, all of whom preceded him except 2 sons, J. Monroe Chandler of Minden, and W. Robert Chandler with whom he lived at his death. In 1867, he married Mrs. Nancy Sledge Waters, near Ringgold, La. To this marriage 5 children were born, Mrs. Frank Krouse of Germantown, La., J. Milton Chanler, of Okla., Isaac C. Chanler, of Bryceland, La., Henry D. Chandler, of Cotton Valley, and John E. Chanler, near Minden. Over eleven years ago he sustained an injury from a fall from which he never recovered, being almost blind he had to be cared for like a child. Then just a few days before this death he had a fall breaking one of his limbs from which his death resulted. Uncle Dave, as he was called by everyone that knew him, was a good quiet man that believed everyone should mind his own business and molest no one. He was loved and tenderly cared for by his son and family till his death. Thus another noble old landmark has passed away.
