James Mitchell will dated 1 Mar 1775, gives to his son Josiah Mitchell 5 shillings; to his daughter Jemima Davenport, 5 shillings; to son James Mitchell, 5 shillings, to son David and to son John, 5 shillings each; to daughters Amey Satterwhite, Mary Bullock, 5 shillings each; to son Abraham Mitchell, 5 shillings; to grandson Randol Mitchell, a tract of land containing 204 acres being land his father now lives on and my son Josiah and wife to live on the land during their lifetime; also a negro slave that came to him by his mother; to my granddaughter Elizabeth Mitchell, a negro slave called Tabb; I have already given my children their legacies before the writing of this will, so I wish all land remaining and all negroes to be sold and the money divided to my seven children, namely: Josiah, David, John, Abraham, Jemima (married Davenport), Amey (married Sattterwhite, Mary (married Bullock), I did not leave as much to son James for he has already had more than the others, and my son Davis is to be paid from my estate the 97 pounds 4 shillings owed him by my son James Mitchell; my ngros Moll, Hannan, and Mingo to remain with my children whichever they wish. Exrs: my sons Josiah, David, and John Mitchell, Michael Satterwhite. Witnesses: William Bullock, Robert McCullouch, and John Lewis. |
