W. L. Pugh, Prominent Merchant of Jones is Injured in Fall: Is now at clinic in Monroe for treatment to injuries received Saturday.
W. L. Pugh, prominent merchant of Jones and member of the Morehouse parish police jury, was removed by ambulance from his home Wednesday afternoon to the clinic at Monroe for treatment of an injury received last Saturday when he was thrown off his horse. He struck a stump in the fall, causing an injury to his back which has produced considerable pain. Yesterday, when it appeared that the injury was nor mending as expected, J. T. Austin, who was with Mr. Pugh when he was injured, arranged for an ambulance to take him to the hospital at Monroe. X-rays were made yesterday afternoon, and it was found that he is suffering from contusions of the back ad hips, but that there are nno fractured bones. Mr. Pugh and Mr. Austin were bird hunting near Joes and the mishap occurred when the former's horse became tangled in a barbed wire fence. The horse was reeling and the rider fell off when the girt broke. Mr. Austin left his Negro chauffeur with the injured man while he rode to Jones and procured a truck and cot. It was necessary to carry Mr. Pugh about a half a mile to his home and be placed under a physician's treatment.
