    • Cratis Merriman of Lakeway, Arkansas died Thursday, January 1, 2004 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was 75 years old. Mr. Merriman was born February 1, 1928 at Peel, Arkansas to Bill and Ollie Friend Merriman. On April 18, 1986, he married Shirley Scott. He was employed as the greenskeeper for the Diamond Hills Country Club. Mr. Merriman was a lifelong resident of Marion County, Arkansas. He was a Jehovah's Witness and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Flippin, Arkansas. He will be best remembered for his love of music and his wide range of musical talents.
      Survivors include his wife, Shirley Merriman of Lakeway, AR; sons, Cleveland Merriman of Summit, AR and Landon Merriman of Springdale, AR; stepsons, David Nolen of Hamilton, MS and Gary Nolen of Parker, AZ; daughters, Rhonda Hager of Valley Springs, AR and Patsy Mathews of Springdale, AR; tepdaughters, Sheila Ware of Hotchkiss, CO, Betty Gazaway of Hamilton, MS, Joy Muhs of Phoenix, AZ and Cynthia Wilson of Springfield, MO; sister, Bessie King of Lakeway, AR; 26 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. His parents; son, David; brothers, Otis, Guy and Joe Merriman; and sisters, Amy Deatherage and Essie Rorie preceded him in death. Visitation was Sunday, January 4, 2004 from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, AR. Funeral services were Monday, January 5, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville with Brother Dan Gast and Brother Jerry Halliday officiating. Burial followed in the Peel Cemetery in Peel, AR with Jerry Merriman, Joel Merriman, Merl Wood, Raymond King, Bob King and Bill Montgomery serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Hobert King, Steve Jones and Bud Dietz.
