He was the son of the late Bill and Essie (Mahon) Evans. He was a veteran of WWI having service in the U. S. Navy, a backhoe operator and a farmer. He was a member of the Diamond City VFW and a past member of the Peel Fire Department. He married Ruth Risley on March 19, 1949. Mrs. Evans passed away on Ocober 11, 2008. He is survived by three sons: Keith and wife Paulette and Luster, all of Peel, and Lester and wife Sheila of Lead Hill; a daughter Joan Keeter and husband Alvin Don of Peel; a brother Dolie Evans of Yellville; a sister Agnes McGowan of Reedsport, Oregon; four grandchildren: Heather, Cody, Killian and Andrea; a great grandchild, Kasey. He was proceded in deathe by a brother, Hollis. Graveside services for Mr. Evans will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Marh 16, 2011 at Peel Cemetery in Peel, Arkansas with Carroll Johnson and Luther Johnson, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service in the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Donnie Wallace, Jerry Parsley, Pete Wallace, Larry Brightwell, Billy and Rusty Evans. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Yocham, Owen Blackwell, J. D. Naves, Charlie Dixon, David Anderson, Alvin Don Keeter, Brady Madden, Gary Risley Jeremy Merriman and his grandchildren.
