- John Castleberry was a Revolutionary Soldier from Georgia. He is mentioned at p 378 [and others] in Knight's Georgia Roster of the Revolution. A Certificate dated 16 Apr 1784, entitling him to Bounty Land i Georgia was signed by Col. G. Lee, who is presumed to have been his Commanding Officer during the War. Knight's at p. 50, Survey No. 358, shows he received a bounty of 278 1/2 acres, located in Franklin Co, GA, 8 Jun 1784, Knight's p 244, Survey No. 715 shows he received 287 1/2 acres of bounty land in Washington Co, GA, 30 Jun 1784, Knight's p 184.

To my beloved son James Castleberry my house and plantation after the death of my wife. My wife may dispose of the furniture and stock as she pleases at her death; if she thinks it advantageous to sell the house and plantation I authorize my executors or any two of them to do so and buy a tract of land of equal value and convey the same to my son James.
