- Loyd Moreau, 84, Yellville Loyd "Turnip" Moreau of Yellville passed away Monday, July 3, 2000, at Baxter County Regional Hospital. He was born April 23, 1916, in Bruno, Arkansas, the son of Alfred H. and Sara Jane (Williams) Moreau. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a rural mail carrier for 25 years. He was also a high school basketball referee in the 1950s and 1960s. He was a diehard St. Louis Cardinals fan. Mr. Moreau was a member of the Broadway Church of Christ. He was a World War II veteran. Mr. Moreau was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother, Vernon "Tuffy" Moreau, Yellville; three sisters, Alene Hudspeth of Bellingham, WA; Florene Sasser of Yakima, WA; Inis Massey of Marshall, AR, and 10 nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 6, from 6-8 p.m., at Burns Funeral Home chapel. Services will be held Friday, July 7, at 2 p.m., at the Broadway Church of Christ with Jon Hendrix officiating. Pallbearers are Chris Parton, Greg Horton, Tim Massey, Jerry Don Cunningham, Matthew Still, and Mike Flippin. Memorial donations may be made to the Nanney Cemetery in the care of Iben Ives. Burns Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
