- Paul Daniel Mallard, 67, of Star City, died Monday at his home. He was born Feb. 2, 1937, at Sherrill, a son of the late John D. Mallard and Grace Leona Rowe Mallard. He was a graduate of Star City High School and attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He served in the Army. He was the former Arkansas state building director under the Clinton administration from 1982 to 1988. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Star City. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Paula Danette Mallard; and one sister, Jeanie Shockley. Survivors include his wife, Marcheta Hayes Mallard; one son, Mark Mallard of Star City; and two brothers, J.D. Mallard of Gould and Doug Mallard of Fort Smith. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with Carness Vaughn and John Schaffer officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery near Star City by the Griffin Funeral Service of Star City. Memorials may be made to the parsonage fund of First United Methodist Church of Star City, 300 Washington St., Star City, AR 71667.
