- Mrs. B. J. Boyd Passes Away Christmas Day -- The entire community was grieved when the sad news reached the city of the death of Mrs. B. J. Boyd occurred in the Lubbock Sanitarium at 4:30 p.m. on December 25th [1930]. Mrs. Boyd underwent a major operation on December 15th after receiving treatment for several weeks in the Lubbock Sanitarium in the hope of regaining her health. The operation was more serious than physicians at first believed ad doctors held but little hope for her recovery after the operation. However, everything that medical aid of living hands could do was done with the hope of prolonging life, but the hope of prolonging life, but the patient's strength gradually grew weaker until the end came. Mrs. Helen Huff Boyd was 27 years of age and moved to O'Donnell with her husband in February 1925, during which time Mr. Boyd has been manager of the Corner Drug Store. During her residence here she has gained a wide circle of friends and was very active in social and church circles. She has been a member of the Methodist church since girlhood. Her passing is a distinct loss to the church and social life of this city. The remains were shipped to Sand Springs, Oklahoma, her old home, and were laid to rest Saturday afternoon, December 28th, services being conducted by Rev. Fowler, Pastor of the Methodist Church at Sand Springs. She is survived by her husband, B. J. Boyd of this city; her mother, Mrs. M. R. Huff of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, and six brothers, Charlie, Cecil, Ray, Ernest, Leon, and Otis, and one sister, Lois Huff.
