    "In the name of God Amen; I, Jacob Cockrell of Nash County in the State of North Carolina being sick and weak but being of perfect mind and memory. And calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all Men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament and as for what it hath pleased God to give me. I do give and bestow in the manner and form following: Imprimis, I give and bequeath to my son Jonathan Cockrell the Plantation whereon I now live also all the cider casks to him and his heirs forever and if he should die without any lawful Heirs it is my desire that my son Nathan should have it. Item, I give and bequeath to my son Nathan Cockrell one Negro girl by the name of Seal also one feather bed & furniture, one horse colt, one Hundred acres of Land lying on the beaver dam to him and his Heirs forever. Item, I give and bequeath to my Daughter Selah Cockrell one Negro Man by the name of Plato, also one feather bed & furniture to her and her Heirs forever. Item, I give and bequeath to my loving Wife five of the best Cows and Calves also my work mare, one feather bed & furniture, the bed & furniture to her for life, twelve head of hogs and two sows her choice to make her meat, one Hundred acres of Land lying upon the Juniper, if ever a right got for it. Also, all the residue of my Estate to her during her Widow Hood after my debts is paid and after her Widowhood, it is my desire that my son William Haywood Cockrell should have it also it is my desire he should have the Bed & furniture after her death to him and his Heirs forever. Item, I do hereby nominate and appoint John Eatman my whole and sole Executor of this my last Will and testament revoking all others by me here to fore made being null and void. May it please the Honorable Court of Nash to grant Mr. Eatman leave of the Court to sell as much of my property as will pay off my Debts without a public sale and no more to be sold but what pays off debts: as Witness my hand and seal the 22 days of August 1792."
