    Deed for Old Hopewell Methodist Church. Known by all men by their presents that I, Martin Cochran of the State of Georgia and the County of Harris for the consideration of the love and respect, I have and bear unto the Methodist Church and also for divers[??] other good causes and considerations, me, the said Martin Cochran, hereunto moving have given a grant and confirmed and by these presents do give and grant and confirm unto Michael, James G. Thompson, Edward Maddox and Burrell Jackson and Joel Lockhart, trustees, on the part of said church and of their successors in office a certain lot of land containing three acres more or less for the purpose of building a meeting house and the same being part of Lot 32 in 4th dist. of Troup but now Harris County and situated immediately on the LaGrange Road on the western side of said road to be 70 yards wide and to extend so far as to include the spring of water of the said spring of water to be mutually enjoyed by the church and the said Martin Cochran, all the singular the said lot of land and promises unto the said trustees and their successors in office against me, the said Martin Cochran, my heirs and all and every other person or persons whomsoever shall and will warrant and so long as the Methodist Episcopal Church shall wish to use the same as a place of worship as aforesaid by virtue of these presents. In witness whereof, I, the said Martin Cochran, have hereunto set my hand and seal the 30th of September, 1834, in the presence of Lemuel P. Stringer, James Barnes, J. I. C.--Martin Cochran.
