Has Fine Samples of Corn: Eudora Farmer Attributes Success to Cultivation and Good Soil.
    W. M. Sansing of Eudora, Ark., was a caller at the agricultural department yesterday, and left four ears of Mosby Prolitic corn as a sample of grain produced by him on poor upland soil last year, which has never been fertilized. The dorn produced 40 bushels to the acre, which is about the average for the best soil. The four ears left with the agricultural department are large in size and about 10 inches long. These four ears came from two stalks, and Mr. Sansing stated that there were from two to four large, well-filled ears on nearly every stalk in the field. Mr. Sansing attributes his success to the fact that he cultivated his ground with care and planted good seed.

    Drainage Mass Meeting
    Drainage Mass Meeting
Sansing joined an organization known as the "Chicot Taxpayers' Protective League" that was formed at a meeting held at the Marion Hotel, [Little Rock] on January 30. The group was in Little Rock to protest against the outrageous and confiscatory drainage measures pending before the Arkansas legislature. The Chicot Taxpapers were to call a mass meeting of the citizens of Chicot County, at the courthouse in Lake Village, on February 5, 1913. Resolutions were unanimously adopted condemning those who were attempting to foist upon the county a drainage indebtedness of moe that three and a half million dollars. It was unanimously decided to take proceedings to stop the collection of 7 cents per acre drainage tax now due. A committee on finance and on resolutions was appointed and authorized to act for the league. About $800 was subscribed at the meeting and paid into the treasury by those present to institute suits and take such other steps as might be deemed advisable to protect the lands against the burden and liens proposed in the pending bill. It was also resolved that all money expended be paid out on the warrant of the president, countersigned by the secretary. An attorney was employed to bring suit to prevent the Drainage Board from expending any further money until the legality of their previous expenditures has been passed upon by the proper courts. It was determined that a permanent league be formed and new members invited, additional subscriptions enlisted and a campaign of education be inaugurated.

Arraigned before Justice of Peace William M. Sansing for hunting birds out of season
    J. M. Bates, conductor on the E. & G. Railroad from Eudora to Epps, La., and John Brown, local farmer near Eudora, were arraigned before Justice Sansing a few days ago on a charge of hunting birds out of season. The jury before whom they were tried said that while there was no evidence to the effect that they had killed any birds, they took the view that it was unlawful to hunt birds at this season of the year, regardless of whether any were killed, and found them guilty. They were each fined $25, but took an appeal to the circuit court. The case will doubtless be watched with interest.

In Memory of W. M. Sansing. On the 2 day of October 1931, death claimed for its own our beloved Brother, W. M. Sansing, and thus added another to its list of Eudora citizens of the older set who have gone to the Great Beyond during the past twelve months. Brother Sansing passed away at the home of his son, Louie, at Dermott, where he had spent most of time during the past two years.

Brother Sansing was a pioneer of Bayou Macon Hills, having been born in 1857, and spent practically his whole life here. He was a man of a kind and gentle bearing, an outstanding citizen, always manifesting a keen interest in all matters pertaining to the social, moral, educational and religious welfare of the community. If he had a hobby, it was Masonry. He became a member of Concord Lodge No. 23 in 1893, then located at Grand Lake, and now at Eudora, and during these 38 years he was always faithful to end active in our lodge, and he several times served the Lodge as Worshipful Master, and at one time was District Lecturer for the Grand Lodge, and it was to him that the Lodge always looked to put them right on all questions of Masonic procedure. He was a good man and a true Mason, and when we say this we feel, according to the appraisal of our lost Brother himself, we have paid to him a high and noble tribute.

BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED by Concord Lodge No. 23, F & A. M. that we treasury the memory of our Beloved Brother and hope that memory may mean much to the good of our Lodge, and that this brief sketch of our departed Brother be spread upon the minutes of the Lodge as an expression of our love and esteem for his memory, and that copies hereof be sent to each of his sons.

    Respectfully submitted,
    T. Morris
    R. S. Simpson
    T. F. Flowers, Committee.
