    The Fourteenth Arkansas Infantry, C.S.A. was organized in August, 1861, by State senator William C. Mitchell near old Lead Hill Cemetery in Boone County. This article describes the organization and enlistment of the men, supplies gathered and their participation in the battle of Pea Ridge and future battles during the Civil War.     Regimental History 1862-1865 
    27th Arkansas Infantry Regiment, Cols. Beals Gaither, James R. Shaler, Lt Cols. A. J. Magenis, James M. Riggs The regiment was formed in the summer of 1862 with men from the northern section of the state. It was assigned to R. G. Shaver's, Tappan's brigade, Trans-Mississippi Department. In the spring of 1864, it was united with the 38th Ark. Infantry Rgt. It fought at Prairie Grove, Bayou Fourche, and Jenkins' Ferry where the consolidated command lost four killed and 22 wounded. The unit was included in the surrender of the Trans-Mississippi Department on June 2, 1865.
