- Walton Jefferson, age 81, of Yellville passed away on Friday, November 1, 2013, at the Hospice House in Mountain Home. Walton was born near Yellville on November 11, 1931. He was the son of the late Lester and Bernece (Cowan) Jefferson. Walt was a farmer and cattleman, he was a former Marion County Farm Bureau Board Member, a former member of the Yellville-Summit School Board, a former member of the Crooked Creek Conservation Board. He was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ. Walt was a man who spent his entire life farming and raising cattle on Crooked Creek. He loved to be in the outdoors whether it was hunting, fishing, or working cattle. Walton married the former Sammie Smith on July 20, 1956, in Tulsa, Okla. Walton is survived by his wife, Sammie, of Yellville; Three sons: Bryan Jefferson and his wife, Tammie, of Yellville; Scotty Jefferson and his wife, Holly, of Yellville; Ken Jefferson and his wife, Tamara, of Owasso, Oklahoma; one daughter, Lori Jefferson of Houston, Texas; and two sisters: Alma Smith of Stuttgart, Arkansas; Darlene Ott and her husband, Terry, of Yellville. Walton is also survived by eight grandchildren: Jarod, Hope, Brittney, Blake, Braden, Conner, Carley, and Zachariah; and one great-grandchild, Cade Curtis. Walton was preceded in death by one sister, Eleana; and one grandchild, Adam. Services will be held at the Main Sreet Church of Christ in Yellville on Sunday, November 3, 2013, at 3:00 P.M. Visitation will begin at 1:30 pm on Sunday at the church. Officiating the services will be Jerry Tinsley and Roger Thompson. Serving as pallbearers will be Blake Jefferson, Braden Jefferson, Jarod Jefferson, Conner Jefferson, Zachariah Jefferson, Ryan Ott, and Kyle Davenport. Honorary pallbearers are Elmo Hurst, Charles Jefferson, Kyle Jefferson, Jason Williams, Kenneth Smith, Billy Frank Smith, Charles Huddleston, Junior Williams, Claude Freeman, and Jeffery Ott. Burial will take place in the Layton Cemetery in Yellville, Arkansas.
