		Obituary for Alta Mae (Wallace) Herd Funeral services for Ozark County native and lifelong resident Alta Mae Herd, 94, of Isabella were scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at the Liberty Baptist Church in Isabella, Bro. Jimmy Kyle officiating. Mrs. Herd, descendant of one of Ozark County's pioneer families and the mother of longtime County Clerk Dallas Herd, died in Springfield early Monday morning, Aug. 14, 1989, following a long illness. She was born at Hammond Nov. 11, 1894, the daughter of David and Martha (Sallee) Wallace. She married Joe Herd Oct. 20, 1912, at Hammond. He preceded her in death in 1971. She was a housewife and mother, and a member of the Baptist faith. In addition to her son Dallas, Mrs. Herd is survived by another son. Willard Herd of Collins, MO.; five daughters, Alaska Swearengin of Collins, Blanche Honeycutt of Gainesville, Stella Trotter of Protem, Donna Hobbs of Grandview, and Bonnie Johnson of Dixon, Mo.; one sister, Elizabeth Abser of Hammond; one brother, Aude Wallace of Longrun; 30 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death, in addition to her husband Joe, by three daughters, three sons and seven brothers. Interment was in the Isabella Cemetery under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home of Gainesville.
