Know All Men by These Presents PAULDING COUNTY GEORGIA
After the desire of myself and my wife Mary for in consideration of the tender love and regard I have ...for my daughter Dorcus Sansing let her have the entire use and control of a certain Negro girl now belonging to me by the name of Emeline during her natural life independent of all every other person or persons whatsoever and after her decease to go to the issue of her body if any to have and hold the said Negro girl and her increase independently of all and every other person or persons whatever until her decrease and if aforesaid Dorcas should not leave issue to return to my estate, Also I give my said daughter a good feather bed and furniture.
In testimony, I the said Benjamin Sansing have hereto set my hand and seal the Eleventh this day of September, A.D., 1845. Since the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America the Sixty-Ninth. Benj Sansing. Signed in the presence of J.W. Rooker.

The Church Book of the Baptist Church at Van Wert, Paulding County, GA, Minutes: July 17, 1847...Approved the act of the called meeting of the church on 28th June last. The Brethren B. Lansing and J. Harrison appeared before the Church and agreed publicly to settle and drop all their difficulties brought before the committee in May last, upon the terms proposed by the committee in their decision, as reported at that time, and which reads as follows, viz: "We the Committee, from the testimony before us, believe Brother Harrison should acknowledge the possibility of saying Brother Lansing had sworn false, though he may not recollect it, and if he did, he said wrong, and ought not to have said it and in future, he will be more careful. "We the Committee do not believe that Brother Lansing deserves to be charged with false swearing." Appointed Brethren Holmes, Mason and Burton delegates to the General Meeting.... |
