Guy T. Harrison, Attorney for Plaintiff. NOTE: This was written on the back of the Petition and I used a mirror to read it.

In the Ozark County Circuit Court, Feb term 1904
James C. Wallace vs. Saloma E. Wallace } Divorce.
Plaintiff for cause of action, says that on the 2nd day of July 1965, at Springfield, Mo., he was married to the defendant, and continued to live with defendant as her husband and discharge all the duties as husband of defendant and at all times treated defendant with kindness and affection, until on or about the 25th day of December 1900, when the defendant became so quarrelsome and abusive that it was impossible for the plaintiff to continue to live with defendant with any degree of satisfaction, defendant was jealous of plaintiff without any cause, an accused the plaintiff of being too intimate with a number of women in the neighborhood, wrongfully and offered plaintiff other indignities that rendered his condition in life intolerable. Plaintiff further states that he has resided in this State one whole year before filing of this petition. Whereas the plaintiff prays to be divorced from the bonds of matrimony contracted as aforesaid, and that they be held for naught, and that plaintiff be restored to all the rights and privileges of a single person, and for such other relief as to the Court may seem just and right in the primises. Guy T. Harrison, Attorney for the Plaintiff. The Plaintiff being duly sworn upon his oath says that the complaint made in the foregoing petition is true and correct, and that the divorce prayed for is not for collusion through fear or restraint, or for the mere purpose of being separated, but sincerely for the cause in the petition mentioned. Signed. James C. Wallace. Sworn to and subscribed before me this 21st day of August 1903. James P. Gaulding, Clerk.

I checked with the Missouri State Archives and the only Ozark County court records that exist for this time period are the indexes that cover James Cosby's three marriages. However, research in the Ozark County deed records has given approximate dates for his marriages and divorces.
