  	Horseshoe, NC -- Arlie Vance Gonce Sr., 92, died Wednesday in the VA Medical Center at Oteen, NC, after a period of declining health. A native of Hawkins County, he had resided in Henderson County, NC for 45 years. He was the husband of Nona Russell Gonce and the son of the late Harvey and Martha Vaughn Gonce. He was a veteran of World War I. Surviving is seven sons, Vance, Ray, Elmer, Harvey, Edward, Charles, and Wayne Gonce, all of the Brevard area; three daughters, Mildred Davis, Rockledge, Fla., Betty Ann Joyner and Jean Bellamy, both of Kingsport; 20 grandchildren; one brother, Bert Gonce, Chuckey; and two sisters, Geneva Johnson, Rogersville and Bonnie Lawson, Bulls Gap. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Moody Connolly Funeral Home, in Brevard, NC.
