- Mack Harlin Johnson, 82, passed away on October 10, 2013, at Brookhaven Health and Rehabilitation, in Springfield, Missouri. Harlin was born in Hammond, Missouri on July 28, 1931, to Fred and Mae (Wallace) Johnson. He grew up in Ozark County Missouri and graduated from Gainesville High School. Harlin lived and worked in many communities in Missouri, Iowa, and Indiana. After graduating from High School he joined the US Coast Guard and served aboard a cruiser in Alaska. After Military service, he was employed by General Motors in Kansas City, Missouri as a Supervisor. Harlin worked in other management positions throughout his life, including, White Farm Tractor in Charles City, Iowa; Anamosa farm systems in Maquoketa, Iowa; and Flex Steele in Iowa and Indiana. Harlin returned to southern Missouri in the early 80s with his wife Rose. Harlin predominated in sales while he worked for Vigertone. After retirement, he stayed active with his children, grandchildren, love of cattle ranching, and his Missouri Fox trotting horses. He always stayed up to date with the Shriners and Scottish rite of freemasonry. He was a Shriner and freemason for more than 50 years. Harlin was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Janette Foster; wife, Rose Johnson (son Todd Mang) son Lyndon; and Brothers Jack and Bill. Harlin is survived by his children Greg (Libby) Johnson of Independence, Missouri; Daughter Jeannie Shouse of Springfield, Missouri; Daughter in law Karen Johnson of Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren Angel Johnson of Waverly, Iowa; Amy Myhre of Charles City, Iowa; Brandi Johnson of Wichita, Kansas; Lauren Johnson of Independence, Missouri; Curtis Shouse of Springfield, Missouri; Amanda Shouse of Springfield, Missouri; Kevin Shouse of Springfield, Missouri; Malinda Shouse of Springfield, Missouri; Sean Mang, Sheena Mang, Jennifer Lipper, Jessica Furry of Maquoketa, Iowa; great-grandchildren Baily, Taylor, and Peyton of Charles City, Iowa, Jovan, Marcus, Kaepen, Coltan, Thristan, And Ella of Maquoketa, Iowa; brothers, Gary of La Mesa, California; Ed of Maquoketa, Iowa; sisters Barbara Dunnegan of Maquoketa, Iowa; June Coffey of Augusta, Kansas; Marian O’Connell of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Carolyn Mork of Osage, Iowa; and Lana Allen of Ely, Iowa; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 14, 2013, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel, Gainesville, MO with Jimmy Kyle officiating. Burial will be in the Lutie Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Visitation will be Monday morning from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
