- Clarissa Elise (Wallace) Chemali, 45, died February 15, 2015, at NorthCare Hospice, North Kansas City, Missouri. Born in Yellville, Arkansas, November 24, 1969, she was the daughter of Ray Leon & Rita (Foster) Wallace. She spent her early years in Louisiana, moving to Springfield, Missouri, with her family in 1981. After graduating from Hillcrest High School in 1987, she attended Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State University) and graduated with a B. A. in Latin American Studies. She interned with the Missouri Department of Agriculture in Mexico for a year before she returned to work for Kansas City Mayor Emanuel Cleaver in 1997. After Cleaver’s mayoral term ended, she worked for the Kansas City Star ten years. She is survived by her husband, Santiago Chemali, Parkville, MO; her son, Noah Javier Chemali, Parkville, MO; her mother, Rita Wallace, Springfield, MO; [her grandfather, Harold E. Foster, Sr., Hope, AR;] her brother, Ryan (Linda) Wallace, Highlandville, MO; two sisters, Amanda Wallace, Fayetteville, AR and Kayla (Austin) Pratt, Harrison, AR; her step-mother, Kathy Wallace, Harrison, AR; her extended Wallace and Chemali families and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Ray Leon Wallace; grandparents, William H. & Flossie (Yocham) Wallace and Elizabeth (Sansing) Foster. A memorial service will be held on February 28, 2015, at Heartland Church of Christ at 2:00 p.m. 816-457-6900. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to the American Cancer Society or NorthCare Hospice & Palliative Care, North Kansas City, MO.
