| 166 | Noble Beall was born in Paulding County in 1919, son of James Guy Beall and Imogean Walker Beall. He was the youngest of seven children named Lillian Blanche Beall Adcock, Vivian Olive Beall McDaniel, James Aubrey Beall, Gordie Mae Beall, Lowell Eugene Beall Sr., and Kerwin Lawrence Beall. He was married first in 1942 to Florence Louise Jones and second to Mary Evelyn Johnston. He raised a fine family of nine children. Rhonda Jane Beall Hawkins being the eldest. Followed by Larry Noble Beall and Kenneth Aubrey Beall. Mary brought 4 children into the marriage and they became Beall-Dudleys. James Kenneth Dudley, Henry Keith Dudley, Deborah Elaine Dudley Burkhalter, and Timothy Bryan Dudley. Added to this mix is David Christopher Beall and Thomas Guy Beall. This makes up a wonderful family that anyone could be proud of in the area of Lindale, Georgia. Mr. Noble William Beall, age 86, 17 Westeria Drive, passed away Friday, March 24, 2006, at his residence. Mr. Beall was born in Paulding County on June 5, 1919, son of the late J. Guy Beall and the late Imogene Walker Beall. He was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Rose Martin Beall, by three sisters, Vivian Beall McDaniel, Lillian Beall Adcock, and Gordie Mae Beall and by three brothers, Kerwin, Lowell, and Aubrey Beall. Mr. Beall retired from Georgia Power as Fleet Crew leader with the North Cobb office following over 30 years of employment. He was a member of the Second Avenue Baptist Church. Mr. Beall was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II. Survivors include his wife, the former Mary Evelyn Johnston Dudley, to whom he was married on Sept. 8, 1964. Nine children Mrs. Rhonda Beall Hawkins and her husband, David, of Adairsville; Larry Beall and his wife, Nannette, of Silver Creek; Ken Dudley and his wife, Teresa, of Silver Creek; Ken Beall and his wife, Denice, of Watkinsville; Mrs. Deborah Dudley Burkhalter and her husband, Mike, of Silver Creek; Keith Dudley and his wife, Rachel, of Atlanta; Tim Dudley and his wife, Jan, of Lindale; Chris Beall and his wife, Hope, of Lindale; and Tom Beall of Rome.18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held Monday at 4 p.m. in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev.Larry Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home today from 4 to 8 p.m. At other hours, they may be contacted at the residence. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Survivors are his parents, Bobby E. and Betty Corder Jones of Hamburg; a brother, Jeffrey A. Foster of Hamburg and Harvey Jones of Cleveland, Miss; two stepsisters, Bobbie Ann LaMastus of Pope, Miss., and Cindy Tripp of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Corder and Morrell Foster, all of Hamburg. State Briefs, Arkansas Gazette Monticello-- Thomas Foster, Jr., 33, of Montrose (Ashley County) drowned Sunday evening in the Saline River while trying to rescue two children. Drew County Sheriff Tommy Free said Foster's body was recovered about 1:45 p.m. Monday in 9 feet of water about 30 yards from where he was last seen. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Free said Foster was with his girlfriend and her two children. He didn't know their names, but the sheriff said the oldest child was 3. The children were wading in shallow water when the current pulled them under, he said. Foster was taken under as he tried to rescue them, he said. | 168 | Odes Uvaldor Taylor of Campbell died Aug. 2, 2006, in Greenville. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be at Brigham Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Born Dec. 1, 1922, in Gladewater, he was the son of Daffin and Velma Holden Taylor. He married Vena Jones on Oct. 12, 1942, in Chickasha, Okla. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1952 and was stationed in Adak, Alaska, where he received the World War II Victory medal, American Theatre and Good Conduct medal. Mr. Taylor worked at E-Systems from 1956 and retired in 1975 with a medical disability. He was a retired pastor, having served at several Baptist churches in and around Hunt County from 1965 to 1990. He was a member of the Wolfe City Excelsior Masonic Lodge 505 where he was a 32nd Degree Mason. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Freda Taylor of Campbell; daughters and sons-in-law Shirley and Jimmy Sloan of Greenville and Deborah and Ricky Sanders of Campbell; sisters Myrl Tosh of Cove, Ark., Hollie Carmin of Minnesota, Edna Webb of Houston and Margie Cain of Henderson; grandchildren Chris Moser, Baret Sanders, Jeff Sanders and Jeff Branch of Greenville, Glenn Taylor and Shayla Taylor of Campbell; Bradley Sloan of McKinney, Gary Taylor of Mesquite, Carisa Greer of Merit and Jessie Branch of Commerce; 18 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friends and caregivers Joanne Lewis of Greenville and First Choice Healthcare agency in Commerce. A native and lifelong resident of Hamburg, she was a homemaker, a member of the First Baptist Church since 1959 where she was the secretary of the children's department, a member of the choir and Women's Missionary Union for many years, and she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Lavon "Slick" Higginbotham of Hamburg; a son, Marion Higginbotham of Crossett; three daughters, Marilyn Chambers of Hamburg, Barbara Gifford of Crossett and Judy Pierce of North Little Rock; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mack Kelley & Vennie Mae Wallace Higginbotham, and her grandparents that raised her, Pres & Ossie Wallace. Funeral services were at 4 p.m., Friday, June 5, in the First Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Pennington officiating. Burial followed at the Promise Land Cemetery. Born December 26, 1929, in Portland to Leroy and Stella Culp Hill, he attended Oklahoma State University and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a retired lineman for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and an agent for State Farm Insurance for 15 years. He was a member of Cowboy Hunting Club and a member of Omega Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for the past 52 years. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Hill; two daughters, Martha Hyde and husband Donald of Eudora and Barbara Heath and husband Douglas of Carriere, MS; one sister, Ana Grubb of Hamburg; three grandchildren, Richard Pambianchi and Leila Pugh, both of McGehee, and Allison Atchley of Eudora; and five great-grandchildren. | 175 | Our Dad, Lloyd Wallace (89), passed away at 8:40 p.m. on October 2nd, 2011. He was born on January 23rd, 1922 by the late Dow and Lilly Wallace. He was preceded in death by his wife Vera and his sisters Eloise, Geneva and Louise. He is survived by his brothers Dean, Ted and Burvil, his oldest son Ron and his wife Judith, his son Randy and his wife Nedra and his youngest son Reggie. He is also survived by his grandchildren Josh Wallace, Rachel Wallace, Brett Wallace, Georgia Wallace, Rhian Wallace and Reyne Wallace. He also leaves behind many cousins, nephews, nieces and his dear friend and close companion of 8 years Vivian Louckes. Dad served in the U.S.Navy during World War II and earned many honors. It was while he was on leave on December 4th, 1941 in San Diego that Dad married our wonderful mother Vera--just 3 days before the attack on Pearl Harbor. After the attack, Dad was immediately transported to the South Pacific to resume his duties. After leaving the Navy after 8 years of service, he attended Southwest Missouri State University and earned his Bachelor of Science in Education. Afterwards he attended the University of Missouri in Columbia where he earned his Masters Degree in Social Work. After college, Dad started his career in the Missouri State Welfare Service, starting as a caseworker and slowly moving upward to higher and more responsible positions. Dad finally retired from the State after serving as the Director of Welfare for the City of Saint Louis and for a brief period of time as the Assistant State Director of Welfare in Jefferson City. When Dad retired, he wanted to be closer to his southwestern Missouri roots. He and Mom moved to Springfield where they could be close to most of their family and friends. Lloyd was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Springfield, MO. Dad was both a wonderful father to us and a wonderful husband to our Mom. Dad always loved watching the Cardinals, and in retirement also learned to love gardening and golf. As a young father, Dad continually stressed to us when we were very young and throughout our high school years that we needed to go to college so that we could be successful in life. He also taught us many things, including how to play baseball when we were young kids and even served as our coach and manager of our little league teams. Dad was a good man and a good father and we will miss him greatly forever. Services to celebrate our Dad's life will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. in the First General Baptist Church, (Walnut St.) Springfield, MO. with burial at 2:00 p.m. in the Lutie Cemetery, Theodosia, MO. with full military honors by Ava American Legion #112 & VFW #5993. Mr. Wallace died Oct. 2 in the Missouri Veterans Home in Mount Vernon. He was born Jan. 23, 1922, to Dow and Lilly Wallace in Ozark County. On Dec. 4, 1941, while on Navy leave, he married Vera Jones in San Diego, Calif. The attack on Pearl Harbor, launching America into World War II, came three days later, and Mr. Wallace was immediately transported to the South Pacific to resume his Navy duties. He served eight years with the Navy and then earned his B.S. in education from Southwest Missouri State College, now Missouri State University. Later he earned a master's degree in social work from the University of Missouri in Columbia. After college, he began a career with the Missouri State Welfare Service, starting as a caseworker and working his way up to higher level positions. For a brief period he served as assistant state director of welfare in Jefferson City. He retired as director of welfare for the city of Saint Louis. After retiring, he and his wife moved to Springfield to be closer to his southwestern Missouri roots. He was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Springfield. He was a loving father and husband. He enjoyed gardening, golf and watching Cardinals baseball games. He is survived by his brothers, Dean, Ted and Burvil Wallace; sons Ron and wife Judith, Randy and wife Nedra, and Reggie. | 177 | Payton Keesee, one of the first county judges of Ozark County, Missouri, was born about 1800 in Virginia. He was the son of Elias Keesee, who was of French descent. In 1816, Payton and two companioins came to the upper White River. They explored the river as far up as Elbow Creek. Shortly after coming to Ozark County, probably in 1817, Payton married Nancy Graham, daughter of Peter Graham who was a Kentucky pioneer of Welsh descent. After their marriage, they settled in Ozark County. Like many pioneers, they roamed around and lived in many places in North Arkansas and Southern Missouri. Their daughter, Ludinda Keesee, was probably the first white child born in the vicinity of Forsyth, Taney Co., Missouri. In 1833, Payton was listed as a landowner in Greene County, MIssouri, however, at this time Greene County encompassed most of Southwest Missouri. When Ozark County was organized, the pioneers elected Payton as their first county judge in 1842. There were some laws, but those which did exist were printed. Payton could not read, so he employed Josiah Haskins to read for him. He served out his term satisfactorily with few complaints from the people. Paton Keesee with his family left Little North Fork in Ozark County, Mo. in the year 1828 and moved to North west Arkansas and settled a place on the west fork of White River 12 miles below the head spring of White River in Washing County. He built a log house and cleared a few acres of land. There were an abundance of wild cherry trees on this stream and Mr. Keesee and family used it for fire wood. Mr. Keesees father in law Peter Graham went with him to the west fork and died there and is buried on this land. One day while Mr. Keesee was at work in his clearing he sent to the house for his wife to come and assist him in measuring the land he had cleared. His wife had just put on a lot of cherry tree wood on the fire which was burning briskly, but she taken her children and went out to where her husband was and shortly after she had left the house it took fire and burned down. They did not get to save anything. Their bread corn and other provisions was stored in the house and it and all their household including their wearing apparel only what they had on went up in smoke and ashes. Washington County was thinly settled then and the family underwent sore trials and hardships before they were able to recruit their bedding and wearing clothes. Mr. Keesee could renew his supply of meat out of wild game in the forest as long as he was able to procure ammunition, but there was no bread corn for sale nearer than the Arkansas River and Mr. Keesee went there and made arrangements with a settler on that stream for a supply of bread corn until he could raise a crop. This corn was carried on horse back all the way from the Arkansas River to his home on West Fork. During the following year he and family returned back to Little North Fork, where he bought the same place back again where he formerly lived before going to West Fork. | 194 | Ples (P. R.) Evans age 83 of Peel, Arkansas, passed away in the St. John's Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri on Sunday, March 13, 2011. Ples was born in Peel on March 12, 1928. He was the son of the late Bill and Essie (Mahon) Evans. He was a veteran of WWI having service in the U. S. Navy, a backhoe operator and a farmer. He was a member of the Diamond City VFW and a past member of the Peel Fire Department. He married Ruth Risley on March 19, 1949. Mrs. Evans passed away on Ocober 11, 2008. He is survived by three sons: Keith and wife Paulette and Luster, all of Peel, and Lester and wife Sheila of Lead Hill; a daughter Joan Keeter and husband Alvin Don of Peel; a brother Dolie Evans of Yellville; a sister Agnes McGowan of Reedsport, Oregon; four grandchildren: Heather, Cody, Killian and Andrea; a great grandchild, Kasey. He was proceded in deathe by a brother, Hollis. Graveside services for Mr. Evans will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Marh 16, 2011 at Peel Cemetery in Peel, Arkansas with Carroll Johnson and Luther Johnson, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service in the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Donnie Wallace, Jerry Parsley, Pete Wallace, Larry Brightwell, Billy and Rusty Evans. She was a member of the Chouteau Church of Christ. Donna spent her life making a wonderful home for her family. She will be so very missed by all who knew and loved her.
